What operating pressure is right for Rain Bird?

Set sprinklers to 2.8 bar but determine water volume at 3.5 bar.

We always set Rain Bird sprinklers to 2.8 bar at the sprinkler to ensure that gear sprinklers and RVAN sprinklers operate reliably.

However, as 0.2 bar (in the valve) and approx. 0.5 bar (in the pipe) are lost between the water outlet and the sprinkler, we calculate the available water volume at the outlet at 3.5 bar. This ensures that the sprinkler really does receive 2.8 bar at the end.

Rain Bird drip pipes are always operated with a pressure reducer (approx. 1.5–2.5 bar).

For guidance, you will find the optimum operating pressures for RVAN nozzles in the technical tables – the average value there is also around 2.8 bar.

In short: Sprinklers operate at 2.8 bar. Measurements are taken at 3.5 bar because pressure is lost along the way.
