Why do I need a valve box?

Valves protected in ground – control unit located separately

The valve box contains the solenoid valves that open and close your individual irrigation circuits. The box is installed in the ground so that the valves are protected but accessible.

The cables for the valves are also connected in the box and then routed to the controller as a multi-core cable.

Important: The controller itself does not belong in the valve box or in a shaft. It should always be installed in a dry location – e.g. in the house, in the garage or outside on the wall of the house, protected from the weather.

To ensure that the electrical connections in the box remain secure, you should use waterproof electrical connectors (e.g. gel connectors). Condensation can form in the box due to temperature differences – normal luster terminals would corrode over time.

In short: The valve box contains the valves in the ground, while the control unit is located separately in a dry place.
